Picnic Spots

Take advantage of our stunning vantage points, from the top of Hotham to the bottom where the rivers flow with the spring snow melt. There are many locations to enjoy uninterrupted 360 degree views to take in a setting sun, all within easy walking distance from your lodge. Find your own lush grassy paradise by taking one of our walking trails sheltered by shady snow gums.

One for the postcards is the Silver Brumby Hut which was built in 1992 as a temporary film prop for the Australian film “The Silver Brumby”, based on the famous novel by Elyne Mitchell. In summer this pretty spot turns into a backdrop fit for a film set with wildflowers, lush green grass and the trickling sounds of Swindlers Creek. You can access the Silver Brumby Hut via the Cobungra Ditch Walk.
