As we couldn’t ski and board this weekend, the next best thing to kick off the season was our Playground Chair charity auction. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of Hotham history, with our first ever chair, the Playground Double, going under the hammer. What’s even better? All funds raised are being donated to support local charities, schools and community groups (see below).  

Here’s what went down, with the support of Castran Real Estate: 

• 27 chairs went under the hammer 

• $75,800 was raised

The bidding was  hotly contested, with Chair 1 fetching a whopping $5,600 – which we’re told is a Victorian record in chairlift auctions.

Couldn’t make it to the Auction? Don’t worry, there’s still another 30 chairs up for grabs in the online portion of the auction.  

Bidding kicks off at 6pm today (Sunday 11 June) and closes exactly one week later on Sunday 18 June at 6:00pm.

Important Note: Chairs purchased must be collected from Mt Hotham Airport following closing weekend, between 8am and 4pm from Monday 2nd to Thursday 12th October by appointment. You will require at least a 6 x 4 trailer or single cab Ute with suitable tie downs and at least two adults dto assist with the lift in. We will be in touch with all successful bidders closer to this date to organise collection. If for some reason you cannot make the collection window, a holding fee may apply.
