Visitors are not permitted to bring pets into the resort or the surrounding Alpine National Park, which are both areas created by State and Commonwealth legislation for the protection and conservation of biodiversity, native plants and animals, and their ecosystems.
Under limited circumstances dogs are allowed if the owners have obtained a permit from Resort Management and adhere to strict conditions, however permits are generally only granted to permanent residents of Mt Hotham or business operators.
A permit is not required for registered guide or assistance dogs.
Owners who bring pets in will be fined and asked to remove the pet from the resort area. Resort Managment Authorised Officers and Park Rangers have the right to remove pets from the resort at cost to the pet owner.
Travelling through the resort
You may travel through the resort with a pet as long as the pet remains in the vehicle.
