It’s nearly the end of the 2022 season. What a ripper - it’s definitely been one for the record books! This season Mt Hotham welcomed more visitors than ever before and we’re thrilled that you were able to enjoy the awesome conditions with us (have we waxed lyrical enough yet on last week’s super spring storm yet?! Helllllooo 66cm top-up in mid-September!)
There were plenty of highlights worth celebrating – here are some of ours, what were yours?
Early opening – the season started with a bang on Saturday 4 June thanks to an early dump. Heavenly Valley, Road Runner and Big D lifts started turning on Queen’s Birthday weekend after a storm delivering 135cm (including a whopping 82cm in 4 days!).
Mt Hotham Base opened – our gorgeous new facility opened near the biathlon range at the Whiskey Flat end of the resort. With a design inspired by the iconic Bogong Moth, the Mt Hotham Base provides 24 x 7 public facilities and a community space that can be booked by contacting Mt Hotham Resort Management.
Retro day – back for 2022, we saw the best of everyone’s neon-coloured retro ski and snowboard outfits for Retro Day, which also marked 70 years of lifted operations at Mt Hotham.
AFL Premiership Cup tour – we had a surprise visit from the AFL Premiership Cup, on its national tour around the country before it ends up at the MCG. We’re pretty sure the Cup has never been to the snow before!
Thank you to all our visitors for your support this season – we hope you had a ball and that we’ll see you next season. We’ll be starting our summer activity in early November, with a bunch of events, plus great hiking and cycling ideas in our pristine alpine environment.
With just a handful of days left of the 2022 snow season, it’s your last chance to…
Ride the Groomers - With snow still falling, lifts will be turning right to the end of the school holidays. If you have a few more runs in the tank, don’t miss the opportunity to get a few more turns in. If you need gear, visit our retailers to get yourself sorted (you might even snare yourself a great end of season bargain!).
Slide the Slope - Our toboggan slope at Wire Plain is still open (and looking the goods after a timely top-up!), so grab your toboggan and race the kids before it’s too late.
Après All Day - Haven’t had enough of the après fun? There’s still time to finish your tour of Mt Hotham’s cocktail list. Check off your favourite venues from our directory.
Step It Out - If your muscles can’t take any more speed, it might be time to try something more sedate. Get into the trails less travelled and explore our snowgum forests on snowshoes. BYO, or hire from one of our retailers.
One Last Tour - Soak in the sunshine of one last perfect Hotham weekend before the snow starts its inevitable melt! Get one last turn in on your favourite runs, make one last stop at your favourite venue, and take one last selfie for the social media likes!
