Weather Incoming!

We have some weather coming folks.  Some high cloud has moved in, and the wind has picked up to a stiff northerly, which is meant to increase significantly as the day progresses.  There is no precipitation at the moment, but there is a big blob moving our way on the radar. The current temp is minus 1, so hopefully the initial precip falls as snow and then we'll see what happens later on when the day warms.  Regardless, the temperature is forecast to plummet overnight, and heavy snow is predicted during the early hours, so we should wake to a much whiter mountain tomorrow morning.

The snow has had a decent freeze overnight, so will start the day off firm before softening with precip of any type. Get out there for the early turns.... or brave the elements when things get real later on.  Road Runner is scheduled for 7:30am First Tracks.

Cheers Bill

Backcountry Conditions

9 August It's not a great day for the backcountry. The weather is not too bad right now, but the wind is meant to increase and either wet snow or rain is predicted for the day. There is slide hazard out there this morning. Take care if you must.

Village to workshop groomed last night. Competition loops combed again for the Biathlon races today at the Biathlon range.

Pretty firm this morning softening during the day. Due to our very thin cover grooming has been very limited. Conditions are variable and can be tricky. Ski with care especially on downhill sections. If you are tempted to go out towards Mt Loch today be cautious of icy slopes particularly early and late in the day. Be aware of weather changes. Watch out for the Australian Defence Force teams training down around the Biathlon range and say HI !.
