Fun turns and improving weather.
The temperature cooled overnight and it's a little crunchy underfoot this morning, but I expect it'll soften in many zones as the day warms. The current temp is minus 1.2, heading for a top of 3 degrees. The wind is a light to moderate westerly, which is meant to ease further during the day. There's a little fog in the village right now, but the forecast is calling for it to clear up as the day progresses... so it should turn out pretty nice out there.
Heavenly Valley area is not perfect but there will be plenty of fun turns to be had for advanced and expert skiers and riders. Just take notice of the signage, as some zones runs are upgraded, or may be closed if it's too slick.
The Extreme Area remains closed due to a significant sliding hazard and please don't attempt to retrieve dropped equipment from closed areas.
WRX First Tracks is scheduled for Road Runner from 7:30am.
It's pretty slick in the carparks, so take care while walking around this morning.

Backcountry Conditions
26 July 2026
There is a significant sliding hazard in the backcountry again this morning, plus the cover is thin, becoming more marginal the lower you go. Some aspects may soften as the day warms but other areas may stay slick and icy for the day. Take Care.
No grooming last night due to somewhat damp conditions. Last groomed, Saturday 25th. July village to workshop Skate / Classic. Groomed through to Whiskey Flat with the comb. Skate.

Last nights damp conditions have left the snow surface soft and wet in some areas and somewhat crusty in others. So be aware of variable conditions Cover is still thin in places. Please ski with care.

The only place on Mt Hotham for tobogganing is at the HOTHAM HUB toboggan slope ( Wire Plain ) Bus stop 11.
The Hotham Hub has toilets, toboggan hire, hot food and drinks to make your experience all that more enjoyable.
The Peashooter toboggan slope at DP is also open.
Best XC Skiing
Village to Skiers xing, higher trails in the Xmas Hill area, Wonderland very nice, (some grassy breaks, take care) very good down to Wire Plain. Wire Plain has a couple of navigable bare areas, then very good to Whiskey Flat.
Dinner Plain Trail
Worth an explore however there are thin and bare areas. Some walking will be involved.
